Asake Education – Asake studied Theatre & Dramatic Arts at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. He started recording music in 2017 and released his first single “Mr. Money” in 2022 with a remix featuring Zlatan & Peruzzi.

Asake is the stage name of Ahmed Ololade, born 13 January 1995 in Lagos, Nigeria. Asake is also the name of his mother. Asake is an award-winning Nigerian singer-songwriter and multi-platinum artist. He is currently under contract with YBNL nation and Empire distribution.
His debut album, “Mr. Money with The Vibe”, was released in September 2022 and set a record for the largest opening day of an album by an African artist on Apple Music at that time. The album peaked at #66 on the Billboard 200, making it the highest-charting Nigerian debut album on the chart. In June 2023, he released his second album, “ Work of Art”, which also peaked at #66.
He was named number 5 on Rolling Stone Music’s ‘Future 25’ in 2020.
In 2020, he won the award for ‘Best African Music Act’ at the ’20 All Africa Music Awards.
The following year, he was nominated as the “Best African Music Act” at the ’20 MOBO Awards.
This was Asake’s first international award nomination, and he went on to receive ‘Best New International Act’ nominations at the ‘2023 BET Awards.
After winning the Next Rated category at 2023 headies on September 4, Asake went home with a new car. Asake was nominated for his song “Amapiano” featuring Olamide at the 55th Annual NAACP Awards on January 20, 2024. On November 2023, he was nominated for his first Grammy Award at 66th Annual Grammy.
Career
Beginning
In February 2022, Asake was signed to the label YBNL Records by fellow Nigerian rapper Olamide. In the same month, he dropped his debut extended play “Ololade” which featured his breakout song “Omo Ope” featuring Olamide and the single “Sungba”. In July 2022, he signed a distribution contract with Empire.
2017 – 2024
Asake’s first full-length studio album, “Mr. Money with The Vibe,” was released on 8 September 2022; the album was accompanied by the singles “Terminator,” “Peace be Unto You,” and a Burna Boy remix of “Sungba.” The album received positive reviews from fans in Asake’s native Nigeria, but also from all over the world, where it set several records. The album peaked at No. 66 on the “Billboard 200”.
Asake announced the Mr Money with Vibe UK tour in September 2022 which sold out 3 dates at London’s O2 academy Brixton. Several people were critically injured in a crowd crush at the Brixton Academy on the last date of the tour. Two of the victims – 33-year old concert goer, Rebecca Ikumelo, and 23-year old security guard, Gaby Hutchinson – tragically passed away from their injuries.
In December 2022, “Audiomack” named Asake “Artiste of the Year” for his debut studio album, “Mr. Money with The Vibes”, which had amassed more than 330 million streams.
In February 2023, Asake was named “One of the Most Streamed and Top Trending Artists in February 2023” along with Kizz Daniel, “Snazzy The Optimist” and “1ucid” after releasing “Yoga,” a sega music single in January 2023, followed by “2:30” in April, and “Amapiano” with Olamide, in May.
Upon the release of “Amapiano”, Asake announced the release of his second album, “Work of Art”. He made an appearance on GMA’s “Good Morning America” in April 2023 to talk about his new album.
Work of Art was released on 16 June 2023. It debuted at #66 on Billboard’s 200, selling 13,000 copies in its first week. It also peaked at #20 on the UK Albums Chart and #59 on the Irish Recorded Music Associate. According to Nigeria’s Turntable rankings, “Work Of Art” was the most streamed album in Nigeria in 2023.
