Wizkid Education – Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun professionally known as Wizkid is a Nigerian afrobeat singer and songwriter, who was born on the 16th of July 1990. Wizkid grew up in Surulere, Lagos with twelve female siblings in an interfaith household. Wizkid’s father is a Muslim, while his mother is a Christian. He completed his secondary education at Ijebu ode Grammar School. In mid-2009, he dropped out of LASU and enrolled at Lead City University. However, after two semesters, he dropped out.

Biography

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun is a Nigerian rapper and singer-songwriter. He is one of the best-selling and most influential Afrobeats artists of the present day. He is also known by his stage name, Wizkid. He was born on 16 July 1990 in Lagos, Nigeria..

Wizkid started recording music when he was 11 years old and released his first album as a member of the Glorious Five (5) a group he formed with a couple of friends from church. In 2009 he signed a record contract with rapper Banky W’s label E.M. E. He later released “Holla at your Boy”, the lead single off his debut album “Superstar” (2011) which also featured the singles “Tease me/Bad Guys” and “Don’t Dull”.

In September 2014, Wizkid released his second studio album “Ayo”. The album was accompanied by six singles, one of which was “Jaiye Jaiye”. Following the expiration of his E.M.E record label contract, Wizkid decided to leave E.M.E Records. In 2016, he achieved global success after collaborating with Drake on the song “One Dance”, which peaked at number one on the US “Billboard” Hot 100 and number one in 14 other countries. This song broke numerous records, making him the first African artist to appear on the “Guinness World Records” list. In March 2017, Wizkid signed a multi album contract with RCA Records, releasing his third studio album “Sounds from the Other Side” later that year, which was accompanied by five singles including “Come Closer” featuring Drake.

In 2018, Wizkid was featured on a song called “Checklist” by the Normani & Calvin Harris which peaked at number one on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. In 2019, he collaborated with Beyoncé on the song “Brown Skin Girl” from her album “The Lion King”. The song also reached number one on the World Digital Song Sales chart, and he was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Music Video”. In October 2020, Wizkid released his fourth studio album, “Made in Lagos”, which met with commercial success and critical acclaim, peaking at number one on Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. The album included the single “Essence” featuring Tems. In 2021, he released “I’m the First Nigerian Song To Chart On The Billboard Hot 100”, which peaked at number ten after a remix by Justin Bieber released on November 11, 2022. The following year, Wizkid released a fifth studio album titled “More love, less Ego” on November 18, 2022.
