Davido Education – David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known as Davidowas born on the 21st of November, 1992 in Atlanta, United States of America to Adedeji Adeleke and Vera Adeleke. Adedeji Adeleke is a Nigerian business tycoon. Vero Adeleke is Davido’s mother, a university lecturer. David Adedeji Adeleke has five siblings and is Adedeji’s third son. He was educated at British International School, Lagos, for both elementary and high school before returning to the United States at the tender age of 16 to pursue a degree in business administration from Oakwood University in Alabama.

Career

Davido’s first official single, “Back When,” was released on May 7, 2011. The rapper Naeto C contributed to the song’s success by lending his vocals. The song was produced by Davido and recorded in London. The music video was shot in Nigeria by Clarence Peters. During this time, Davido was signed to his elder brother’s record label, HKN Records.

Davido released his first full-length studio album in 2011 titled “oma baba olowo”, which featured the singles “dami duro, ekuro, overseas, and back when”. The album was a commercial success and saw Davido collaborate with a wide range of artists and producers – including Maleek Berry; Spellz; Shina Rambo; 2baba; Jay Sleek; gospelOnDeBeatz; Naeto C; B-Red; Kayswitch; and singer-songwriter Shizzi. The album was nominated for Album Of The Year at the 2013 Headies and won the award for Best R&B / Pop Album.

In 2013, David collaborated with his best friend and producer Shizzi to release the singles Gobe, One Of A Kind, and Skelewu. Skelewu is one of the most popular songs worldwide. It popularised a new dance style that has been trending for several years. David shot 2 music videos for this single. The first one is directed by Sesan while the second one was shot by Moe Musa in London.

Aye was released on the 1st of February 2014. The music video was shot by Clarence Peters and was released on the 6th of the same month. The following year, Davido collaborated with South African singer-songwriter Mafikizola to record and release the song “Tchelete” (Good Life). In June 2015, Davido released “Fans Mi”, a trap song featuring American rapper Meek Mill.

In January 2016, Davido declared to his fans that he has signed a recording contract with Sony Music through their music label RCA Records. A few months later, Davido launched his record label DMW. In 2016, he signed three artists: Mayorkun; Dremo; and Ichaba. In 2017, Davido released his five-track EP Son Of Mercy. The EP featured the singles “Coolest Kid In Africa,” featuring Nasty C; “How Long”; and “Gbagbe Oshi”.

On February 17, 2017, he dropped the single “If” to rave reviews. The song was co-written and co-produced by Tekno. The song went on to win Best Pop Single at the Headies 2018 and Best Song of The Year. It was also certified diamond by RISA, meaning it sold over 200k units. The music video for “If” was directed by Director Q in London.

4 months later, on June 2, 2017, Davido released the international hit “Fall”. The song became one of the 100 most searched songs on Shazam in America and was certified platinum by RISA. It also became the longest charted Nigerian pop song on the Billboard Hot 100. Daps shot and directed the music video for “Fall” in the US. Since then, “Fall” has gained over 100 million YouTube views, making it the first Nigerian video to reach that milestone.

A few days before his 25th birthday, Davido released FIA on November 10, 2017. The song was produced by Fresh VDM and directed by Clarence Peters. On April 30, 2018, David released Assurance to commemorate the 23rd birthday of his girlfriend Chioma avril Rowland. David went on to win the Best African Act Award at the 2017 VMAs and the Best International Act Award at the 2018 BET awards.

In 2019, Davido’s organized show at London’s O2 Arena sold out, marking the first time a solo African artist sold out a show. Before the release of his 2nd studio album, “A Good Time” on November 22, 2019, he released two singles, “Blow My Mind” and “Risky.” The former was a collaboration with Chris Brown, while the latter was a duet with dancehall artist Popcaan. The music video for “Risky” was directed by meji alabi.

A Better Time is his third studio album. It was released on the 13th of November 2020 to the delight of his fans. The album is full of collaborations with artists like Ckay, Mayorkun, Bella shmurda, Lil Baby, Nas, Nicki Minaj, Young Thug, and Chris Brown. As of December 2020, A Better Time has more than 213.2m streams. Before the release of A Better Time, he released the song Fem on 10th of September 2020. The music video for Fem was directed by Dammy Twitch.

Davido Adeleke was born in Atlanta, USA. His parents are Adedeji and Veronika Adeleke. His father is a business tycoon and his mother is a university lecturer.

Raised by 5 siblings, Davido is the youngest and his father’s second-born son. He sold his music system during his time at Oakwood and began writing beats.

He also worked with his cousin B-Red and his cousin Sina Rambo to form KB International. After graduating Oakwood University, Davido decided to focus full-time on music and moved to London, where he worked on his vocals.

In 2011, when he returned to Nigeria, he put his music career on hold and decided to follow in his father’s footsteps by attending Babcock University.

He graduated in July 2015 with a degree in Music from Babcock University after his father donated money to establish a song department at the university for the first elegance of one student.

Davido’s Net Worth

According to Forbes, Davido’s net worth is estimated to be $90 million, and much of his wealth over the years has come from his Musician days, and on his YouTube channel alone, he has 663 million video views.

In addition to his music contracts, he is also the brand ambassador for several Nigerian brands such as Close Up and MTN, as well as Infinix among others, as well as other Nigerian and international brands. He charges between N10 million and N40 million per show for his Nigerian performances and shows. For his international performances, he charges between $100 000 and $200 000 per show.

In addition to this, Davido also owns a number of high-end luxury vehicles, such as: Toyota Land Cruiser, Rolls Royce Phantom Mercedes, Benz sedan AMG series, Lamborghini Urus, Bentayga, Chevrolet Camaro GS, Porsche Carrera, Range Rover and Lamborghini Huracan.

He has three residences at home and abroad: Lekki, Banana Island, N140 million worth, and Atlanta, USA.
