UNIOSUN VC Appoints Oyeweso As Provost of Postgraduate College

yeProf. Oyeweso has been appointed as the Provost of the Postgraduate College by the Vice-chancellor of the Osun State University, UNIOSUN.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Osun State University (Uniosun) Professor Ayo Adeboye has appointed the Provost of Postgraduate College, Professor Siyan Ojeweso who is a renowned Professor of History at the college of humanities and culture.

Professor Oyeweso’s appointment was officially confirmed in a press release issued by the University on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024. The release was signed by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Ademola adesoji.

The statement further states that “Mr Oyeweso reports to the Vice-chancellor for the management of Postgraduate studies at the University.” The statement further states that the appointment of Mr Oyeweso as the Director of Postgraduate Studies at the University will take effect on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

 

Prof. Oyeweso is a highly-regarded Professor of History. He obtained his Bachelors degree in History (Upper Division). He also obtained an M.A. Degree and a Ph.D. from University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University).

Oyeweso has held a number of key positions at the University, including the following: Pioneer Provost of the University’s Ikire Campus, Pioneer Director of the University’s Business School, Pioneer Chairman of the committee of provosts, deans, and directors; Director of the Centre for Human resource development and life-long learning, Director of Advancement, Fellow of Historical Society of Nigeria Member of Nigerian Academy of Letters.

He has received numerous national and international awards and research grants for his outstanding academic work and his contributions to the field of history. Oyeweso is well-known for his excellent and versatile public speaking skills. Siyan Oyeweso has established himself as an authority on the history of Nigeria, politics, religion and culture, according to his numerous publications dating back to 1986,” Adesoji said.
