At its 13th Convocation Ceremony, Caleb University Imota in Lagos produced 60 first-class graduates.
According to a statement by the university, 60 undergraduate students graduated with first class out of 1,209 graduating students, and 9 pioneer Doctorate students graduated for the first time. The other numbers are 428 second-class (upper division) and 494 second-class (lower division).
Caleb University has established partnerships with leading universities in Africa and beyond, including requests for cooperation from the Mass Communication Department, according to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie.
He said, “The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and our graduates are marketing the Caleb brand around the world in a way that speaks to the depth, breadth and dimension of the investment made in them by our passionate lecturers in the beautiful and charming environment.”
Caleb University Pro-chancellor, Prof. Sunday Ajayi (President-in-Office, Governing Council), expressed his warmest greetings to the visiting pro-chancellor, Dr Oladega Adebogun, who he described as a “brilliant educationist”. Ajayi added that Adebogun had been providing an environment conducive to the development of young people from all walks of life.
Convocation Lecturer, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso spoke on Closing the generational gaps in Nigerian politics between old and young.’
Veteran journalist and editor Omotoso, who has more than 35 years of experience in the media, stressed the need for young people to be involved in politics. He said, “Elections should be seen as a right and part of the solution, not a problem for others to solve”.
The event was attended by His Imperial Majesty the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Her Eminence, reverend mother Esther Ajayi of Love of Christ International Church, and the Guest of Honour, Mr Adaralegbe Akintayo of Tpumpy Estate Development.
