The U.S. is an incredibly diverse country, and there are so many things to do and see while you’re there. Connect with people in your area and see if there are any off-the-beaten-path places you can visit to learn more about your local area.

Residence Life
Contrary to the majority of international universities, many U.S. colleges and universities provide on-campus housing outside the city limits. In fact, most college campuses in the U.S. are their own autonomous parts of a city and have dormitories where their undergraduates (and sometimes graduate students) can live. Dormitories turn into small communities where you can hang out with other students who go to the university and partake in specific activities with the residents of your residence hall.
Weekend Fun
So, it’s the weekend and you have some time to spare. What are you going to do? Most college towns have a vibrant nightlife with bars and clubs to enjoy. In the United States, unlike most countries, the legal drinking age is 21 years old. So, while you can drink in your home country until you’re 21, you can’t drink in the United States until you are 21. While this may limit your nightlife options, there are still plenty of other things to do.
There are plenty of restaurants and pubs open late on the weekends in college areas, so you can grab a bite to eat and hang out with your friends.
There are also many live events that take place on weekends in college campuses and college towns. Be sure to check the websites for your area; you may find fun festivals or other activities to attend throughout the year. Many states have state fairs that you may attend as well. Activities may also vary depending on the time of year. For example, if you live in the Northeast, you may ski in winter, attend festivals in spring, play outdoor sports in summer and attend the state fair in fall. If you live in the South, you may enjoy beaches all year round.
There’s always something going on while you’re visiting the United States. All you have to do is take some time to explore and connect with your friends and colleagues to make the most of your time.
