The Union of Nigerian University Lecturers, ASUU Re-elects Professor Osodeke As National President.

Nigerian university lecturers under the aegis of the Academy Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday re-elected Professor Emmanuel Osodeke unopposed as their National President.
By his re-election, Osodeke will manage the undertakings of the association for the following two years.
Osodeke directed the association’s battle with the Nigerian government last year when it picketed for quite a long time.
Their requests incorporate the substitution of the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) with the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) for the installment of the patrons’ remittances; renegotiation of the 2009 FGN-ASUU Understanding, the arrival of revitalisation reserve, arrival of white papers on appearance boards to colleges. At the time association canceled the strike, large numbers of its requests had not been met.
Aside from Osodeke of the Michael Okpara College of Horticulture in Umudike, Abia Express, the patrons reappointed Chris Piwuna, an Expert Specialist and Academic administrator at the College of Jos, as VP, The PUNCH reports.

They were re-elected at ASUU’s 22nd Public Delegate Meeting, which was facilitated by the College of Jos in Level State from May 19 to 21, 2023.
Different chiefs of the association who were reappointed incorporate Prof. Siji Sowande (Treasurer); Prof. Ade Adejumo (Monetary Secretary); Dr Austen Sado (investment Secretary); Dr Adamu Babayo (Internal auditor); and Dr Aisha Bawa, who supplanted Dr Stella-Maris Okey as Welfare Secretary.

“We have wrapped up with our national agents meeting in Jos. It was fruitful. We are returning to Abuja. We will give an assertion in regards to the meeting and my re-appointment and other public officials when we return to our station,” Osodeke told The PUNCH.
